Notes from the Prez…. It’s Summer Time …..by Tasha Golis

It’s Summer time on Lake Holden.  The temperatures are up and the lake’s water level is down.  I just came in from paddleboarding with the dogs and realized that the water was shin deep right at our seawall.  I’m looking forward to those afternoon showers.

It has been a busy Spring.  The Lake Holden Property Owners Association (LHPOA) Annual Fish Fry was held in April and hosted by the Jones’ on West Lake Holden Pt.  The food was amazing as always: fried fish, green tomatoes, shrimp, and pickles; wonderful sides and salads and fabulous desserts.  If you missed it, you missed a good time.  Plan on attending next year.

The Fish Fry is only one of our events held throughout the year.  Paid membership ($30 per year) to the POA  also includes an invitation to the Annual Lake Holden Bar-b-Que and participation in the Holiday Boat Parade.  The Bar-b-Que is a catered event and will be held Oct 28 and hosted by Brenda Worden for the 3rd year in a row.  Mark your calendars now.

And while you’re at it, check out the new Lake Holden website.  www.lakeholden.org  Rick Richbourg created our old website in 1994 and has maintained it since.  In May, he updated the site using today’s technology and it is awesome.  It’s easy to navigate and is full of amazing information about Lake Holden.  You can pay your membership, contact your Board of Directors, check out photos, learn about the Water Advisory Board (WAB) and the work being done to protect and preserve water quality, follow links to government sites for permits, and read about our lake’s history.

Enjoy yourself this Summer.  Get to know your neighbors and encourage them to join the POA.  I look forward to seeing you all out on the water.
