LHPOA Board Meeting Minutes

March 15, 2017                       Cecil’s BBQ

Call to Order:  7:05 pm

Board Members in Attendance: Tasha Golis, Brenda Warden, Karen Perdue, Rick Richbourg, Dianna Robbins, Joel Gregor, Michael Holder, Gunnar Shuler, Rhea Cammenga

Board Members Absent: Larry Jones, Rick Fender, Ed Carr

Guests Present: Jeannie Richbourg, Gary Davis, Lionel Robbins, Donny Cammenga, Dana Kruetzfeldt, Jeff Perdue, Terry Kestler, Caroline St. Clair, Jerry Shuler, Andy Shuler, Drew Farmer

President’s Report – Tasha Golis

  • Water Advisory Report – Rick Richbourg:
    • WAB voted on new chair members. Rick has been Chairman for over 10 years. We appreciate his service on the WAB (as well as the POA and the continued maintenance and updating on the website). Lionel Robbins will be the new Chairman. The new Vice Chair is Caroline St. Clair. Their service to the WAB is greatly appreciated.

Secretary’s Report – Rhea Cammenga:

  • Nothing to Report

Treasurer’s Report –  Karen Perdue:

  • Updated financials for last 2 months
  • Currently 70 paid memberships, newsletter at printer with reminder to pay dues

Old Business:

New Business:

  • Motion was made by Diana Robbins to change the signatures on the LHPOA checking accounts to Tasha Golis (President), and Diana Robbins (Chairman of the Board), and deleting outgoing Chairman of the Board, Rick Richbourg.  2ndby Brenda Worden.  Seeing no further discussion, motion carried.
  • Annual Fish Fry is scheduled for 4/22 at Larry & Jeannie Jones’ house from 1-4. RSVP at the Lake Holden Website. Paid POA members can attend for free, guests $5.00 each. BYO side dish, fish will provided.
    • org was created in 1994 by Rick Richbourg and has been maintained since by the same. Motion (tabled until May meeting) to consider shifting more to ‘blog’ format. Cost would be Est $500 to port all data to new content mgmt. Motion tabled until next meeting when example can be provided.
    • Benefits:
      • More up-to-date status of events on the lake keeping residents more informed
      • Easier to update
      • Easier to access past data (members, aerials, lakewatch)
    • Consider digital newsletter instead of print. Cost of November newsletter to all residents is Est $200, the most expensive of the year. All others are mailed to only paid members.
    • Discussion to move meeting to quieter venue by Terry Kestler.
    • WAB sign on island vandalized. Island (and sign) owned by Orange County Board of County Commissioners. The WAB wants to encourage everyone to get the word out DO NOT VANDALIZE COUNTY PROPERTY and to keep the island and water clean or everyone will be banned from using the island by the County.
    • Pete Clark called to notify the WAB that the petition to change the land usage/zoning code for the property at 1201, 1204 and 1206 41st Street (self-named ‘Lake Holden Gardens’) has been withdrawn. The hired planner for the project resigned on March 10th. We need to remain vigilant for unlicensed or prohibited activity due to the owner/manager’s history with such.

Call to Order:  7:00 pm

Board Members in Attendance: Tasha Golis, Brenda Warden, Karen Perdue, Rick Richbourg, Dianna Robbins, Joel Gregor, Michael Holder, Gunnar Shuler, Larry Jones, Ed Carr, Rhea Cammenga

Board Members Absent: Rick Fender

Guests Present: Jeannie Richbourg, Gary Davis, Lionel Robbins, Donny Cammenga, Jessica Forte, Ron Guire

Motion to change minutes from 3-15-17 as follows:

  • Digital newsletter tabled until example can be provided as well as a proposal can be reviewed
  • Motions can only be made by board members, change from motion to discussion regarding venue for meets.

President’s Report – Tasha Golis

  • Water Advisory Report – Lionel Robbins:
    • Discussion about making adjustments to retention pond on 34th Further discussion is req’d
    • Encourage residents to attend meetings – would like to see higher turnout
    • Holder: concerned about the pondweed growth. L Robbins: WAB biggest concern is Hydrilla; researching alt control methods that are more cost effective than herbicide. White Amur was mentioned as a potential, taking into consideration old/ new data from this/other lakes. More data/discussion is needed before developing a plan of action.

Secretary’s Report – Rhea Cammenga:

  • Conway & Windermere Lakes are having issues w/ rental business on their at public boat ramps. Mayors have had discussions w/ County/State officials to curb reckless behavior to no avail

Treasurer’s Report – Karen Perdue:

  • Updated financials for last 2 months
  • Currently 83 paid memberships, 116 unpaid. Emailed available addresses (32). R. Richbourg has alternate email database & will provide to K Perdue. Tasha recommended finding more ways to reach out to unpaid members.

Vice President’s Report – Brenda Warden

  • Nothing to Report

Director’s Report

  • Holder: Fishing Tournament May 27. Cost is $10. Winner will receive trophy & prizes

Old Business:

  • Fish Fry was a success. 1 long term unpaid member updated their membership, 2 more current members updated, & lots of paid guests. The traffic helped generate interest in the open house on the street for sale. Thanks to Larry & Jeannie Jones for hosting a great party.

New Business:

  • Annual BBQ @ Brenda Worden’s 10-28-2017 from 1-4pm
  • Richbourg: In lieu of making a proposal & mock up to port all data from website to new platform, decided to move data. Address is www.2017.lakeholden.org Benefits: real-time & searchable data/members, permit info, WAB info, meeting times, digital newsletters (also in PDF printable format), easier maintenance, RSVP’s to lake events. One-time port fee of $500 for time spent. Members can print for neighbors w/ no internet. K Purdue mentioned adding the new address for website to the newsletter to generate traffic. Also add links from Facebook platform to get the word out.
  • Holder: motion to reimburse R Richbourg for the port in the amount of $500. K Purdue seconded, all in favor. Motion passed.

Announcements:

  • Groove Therapy is playing at Vines on Saturday, 10:30- Close
  • Diana Robbins is a Travel Agent & is available for helping book vacations.
