Good afternoon, Lake Holden!

I hope you and your family are doing well. As we enter into the second half of 2021, I wanted to take a few minutes to send out a few updates.

The Lake Holden Board held a meeting Wednesday July 28 at Cypress Grove Park. Number of issues were discussed.

There is an ongoing problem with aggressive panhandling at Michigan and I4.  I have been working with both City and County law enforcement and FDOT regarding the matter.  This intersection is the boundary between City and County and maintained by I4 Ultimate and it’s proven difficult to get an agency to take responsibility for the issue.

A Lake Holden homeowner noticed that work had begun on the SoDo House townhome project on Michigan, and that there was not a turbidity curtain installed.  I contacted the Chief Engineering Inspector. They notified the contractor that they must have the storm water BMPs in place before work can continue.  I received an update today that the project is having problems with permitting and that the site will be reinspected once work begins again.

The City has made free rain barrels available for residents.  Contact me if you would like more information.

We have been waiting for the Jernigan historical marker to be returned to our neighborhood. I have been in contact with the Neighborhood Services division for the last three years regarding this matter.  The latest update is that the Historical Center is concluding their work on the matter. And that there have been discussions about locating the sign where more people can appreciate it.

There were a dozen entries submitted in our design competition.  We will unveil the new Lake Holden flag, shirts, and other merchandise at Lake Fest Saturday August 21!  Join us for an afternoon of live music.  Local favorite Michael B Powell will be performing at the Worden Compound.  Pack a picnic, we will provide dessert!

See you on the water!
