Lake Holden News – Summer 2022

Summer 2022

Welcome to our new lakeholden.org website! I have been working with Aaron Katen, Co-Founder of Agent C Media for close to a year to refresh and update our previous website which was created in the early 1980s. His expertise was greatly needed and sincerely appreciated. Watch this page for more updates and information.

This April, the Lake Holden Property Owners Association once again hosted the Fish Fry. This has been a Lake Holden tradition for decades. Unfortunately, we were not able to host this event during the pandemic. This year, Michael and I hosted it at our house. It was so wonderful to see such an incredible turnout. A special thanks to Mr. Larry Jones who assisted with the set up and frying. The Jones’ have hosted this LHPOA event for several years. So many members of our community, both familiar faces and new neighbors, brought amazing food. Local favorite, Michael Powell returned to perform great live music. Folks arrived by both boat and car and it was a great success.

This Fall, the LHPOA will be hosting a barbecue. And this December we will once again host the annual Holiday Boat Parade & Backyard decorating contest (which was an amazing success in 2021! We had the biggest turnout ever and the lake was absolutely lit up with lights and music.)

Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend these events. Entrance to the BBQ is free for paid members of the Lake Holden POA and guests are five dollars. Annual dues are $30 and can be paid through PayPal.

Our next LHPOA Board meeting will be held Wednesday July 27 at 7p at the Grove House in Cypress Grove Park off Holden Ave.

I’d like to thank our Water Advisory Board who works with our environmental protection division representative and the City to help maintain the lake. Recently they worked to resolve an issue regarding the Alum treatment facility.

I would also like to thank my LHPOA Board members: Karen Perdue, Rhea Cammenga, Larry Jones, Michael Holder, Brenda Worden, and Anne Fisher. Their continued volunteer hours, hard work, and support are invaluable. Join us July 27 at our next meeting. We have seats available on the board.

Check out both the Lake Holden Property Owners Association and the Lake Holden Yacht Club on social media. Contact me if you are interested in any of our Lake Holden branded merchandise. We have flags, tank tops, T-shirts, stickers, magnets, and visors available.

I am looking to looking forward to a wonderful Summer. See you on the lake!
